A Norton man has pleaded guilty to multiple charges in Wise County Circuit Court. Joseph Michael Mullins, 39, shoplifted hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise with assistance from his children. Mullins would purchase items at the Norton Walmart and place the bags in the shopping cart at which time his children would help fill those bags with the unpurchased goods. Over a three-month period they managed to steal more than $800 in merchandise.

The County Has Contributed It’s 5-Percent Match, Or 5.1 Million Dollars For The Total Flood Protection That Built The Consolidated Ridgeview Schools. In Other Business, County Leaders Advised School Leaders They Would Need To Pay For Any Road Work Leading To A New Proposed Elementary School. There’s Currently No State Funding Available For A Road, Regardless Of Where The School Is Built.

HYDEN, Ky. (WYMT) - A Leslie County woman, connected to a deadly crash, has now been charged with murder.
Prosecutors filed the charges Tuesday against Alyssa Noble.
Noble is accused of crashing her car in downtown Hyden back on August 21st, 2017, killing Paige Hayes and injuring another woman.
"It's a relief, you know. I think she should have been arrested a long time ago before this ever happened," said Louise Johnson, Paige Hayes' mother. "We'll never get another day to tell her how much we love her and how much she meant to us and how proud we are of her. Now I get to go to her grave and tell her."
She is also charged with assault, 4 counts of wanton endangerment, DUI, reckless driving, drug possession and public intoxication.
"Paige was standing right there, on a day like today, and she was just murdered," said Rhonda Belcher, who was also hit in the same crash that killed Hayes.
Noble was already in jail in Leslie County at the time the warrant was served.
She had previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in a separate case in Clay County, but was not sentenced to jail time there.
Noble's arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 27.
Southwest Virginia delegate Terry Kilgore is changing his mind concerning the expansion and reform of Medicaid in the Commonwealth. In the past most republicans have fought against Medicaid expansion under the affordable Care Act. Now, Kilgore of Gate City says its time to stop saying no and do something. Under his plan, Medicaid would be expanded to about three hundred thousand low income Virginians, who must either be employed, be in a workforce training program or performing community service to participate.
