Around 2 a.m. on Wed. March 1, Pikeville Police noticed a car driving the wrong way on U.S. 23.
Officers tried to stop the car but the driver, Paul Miller, sped off. Police followed him for several miles.
Police believe he was driving 20 to 30 miles over the speed limit.
"The officers don't really believe at any point do they think the suspect even knew that they were trying to get him off the roadway," Chris Edmonds, Pikeville Police assistant chief, said. "They don't even think he recognized the officers being behind him."
Police followed Miller all the way to Floyd County line, where he crashed. Miller was ejected from the car. He was then taken to Pikeville Medical Center.
He faces DUI and wanton endangerment charges.
