On Thursday morning, crews were called to a home on Joseph Drive, off of Highway 932.
According to the Letcher County Coroner, they found what appeared to be the remains of two people in the rubble.
Those remains were sent to Frankfort for identification.
Kentucky State Police said while they were called to the home on Thursday, they aren't sure when the fire actually took place.
"With the rural location of this residence and no close neighbors nearby, it is apparent the residence burned with really no one knowing about it until someone went up and checked on this location," said Trooper Jody Sims, with the Kentucky State Police.
Police said the only thing left standing at the home was the chimney.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
