It started in the Isom area and ended on a strip job on 899 heading towards Raven right before the Thornsbury Branch Road. Officers laid down spike strips, and the man was able to travel several more miles before stopping.
"Officers encountered the driver who exited the vehicle and through that situation, officers pulled their issued firearms and fired upon this individual," said Sims.
Sims said the man took off following a traffic stop. Five different vehicles pursued.
"Unfortunately this vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit was then initiated," said Sims.
Trooper Jody Sims says the injuries to the man were non-life threatening. No troopers were injured.
"Fortunately this individual did not receive any life-threatening injuries," said Sims.
The man is receiving medical treatment at Hazard ARH. Sims said it is too early to release any information on why the officers shot the man.
