The Wise County National Crime Victims' Rights Week program will be held at Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. hosted by Commonwealth's Attorney Chuck Slemp and the Wise County Victim Witness Assistance Program. The theme of the event is "Beyond a Survivor: Overcoming Domestic Violence." The event will feature an appearance by domestic violence survivors and victim advocates, including Teresa McKensie (Floyd County & Radford City Victim Witness Assistant Director) and Teresa Layne (Tazewell County Victim Witness Assistant Director).
The program was previously scheduled to be held on the front Courthouse Lawn in Wise. However, due to the anticipation of inclement weather, the event has been moved to the Cantrell Banquet Hall at the University of Virginia's College at Wise.
The public is encouraged to attend.
