That word came Wednesday from Bart Hove who is president and CEO of Wellmont Health System. Hove said if the FTC sues to stop the merger, Wellmont and Mountain States will deal with it.
Officials claim they want to protect against health care costs soaring, despite the elimination of competition.
"In addition to all the other benefits associated with our application it is to dispel the concern about the lack of competition for the benefits that we'll be providing to the communities and to emphasize how we have protected pricing in our marketplace going forward,” Hove said.
The hospitals have filed with Tennessee regulators their response to the FTC’s opposition.
