A man has been identified after crews responded to a possible drowning at the Wise Reservoir on Friday.Wise Interim Police Chief Danny French says the victim Ed Horn of Wise,Virginia died not of drowning but of natural causes. He was apparently fishing with relatives before emergency crews arrived, when they arrived CPR was being performed on the man on the banks of the reservoir, CPR was continued in route to the hospital but he passed away during transport.

He was a member of the Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, a retired coal miner, a longtime employee of LifeCare Ambulance Service and he loved the outdoors, especially fishing and gardening. Horne of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Timothy R. Horne and wife Sandy of Coeburn and Scott Horne and Sheri Huebner of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughter, Rhonda L. Wicker and husband Pervis “Bear” of Hindman, KY; three granddaughters, Tilina Herald Powers, Ashley Jo Herald Turner and Cynthia L. Horne Cantrell; three great-grandchildren, Madison Powers, Jamie Turner and Connor Turner; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Edward Harrison Horne will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Rev. James Wilson and Rev.
