According to a news release from the Russell County Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, Donald Ray Forman, 48, was sentenced to 50 years in prison, with 10 years suspended. Forman will serve 40 years.
Following his release from prison, Forman will be on indefinite probation.
During a hearing Monday, evidence was presented showing Forman has engaged in sexual relations with and had solicited sexual acts from a 10-year-old through text messaging and Facebook for almost three years.
“This is another sad case where an adult exploited a minor child and used social media and text messaging to further his depravity,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Brian Patton said. “With this sentence, Forman will never be back in our community.”
We will continue to work jointly with our partners in law enforcement to stop the victimization of children in Russell County and bring the perpetrators to justice,” Sheriff Steve Dye said.
Charges stemmed from an investigation by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police.
